Established in 2015, Sovereign is a boutique investment company operated by two women with over 17 years’ professional experience.

Having a historic working relationship as partners at a Big 4 Accounting and Advisory Firm, we have teamed our individual skills and combined experience to bring together a black empowerment company with a diverse skill set.

Nisreen and Charneill have spent the better part of their careers in the upper echelons of Finance both locally and internationally, each specialising in different industries.

As industry specialists and with a track record of experience as trusted advisors in these industries, the team’s focus area is a strategic approach to risk and governance, finance and growth strategy across markets and borders.

Nisreen has a strong network and prides herself on her ability to channel energies towards growth. She has successfully started and grown her own businesses and brings an energy to the team that is fresh and forward thinking. She is an innovative executive with exceptional presentation, communication and leadership skills. Her industries of expertise lies in Oil & Gas, Hospitality & Leisure, Media, Public Sector and Entertainment industries. Nisreen is passionate about education of young women in South Africa and previously served as a board member on AWCA, an organisation whose mission is to increase the number of female Chartered Accountants in South Africa. Nisreen led the Cape Town chapter of AWCA for many years, ensuring the success of the regional strategic goals. Currently Nisreen serves on various boards as Non-Executive Director.

Charneill is an experienced business strategist specialising in financial reporting, commercial controls and regulatory compliance within several industries including the Public Sector, Non-profits, Fishing and Hospitality & Leisure. She has a flair for unlocking organisational value by crafting sensible processes, tweaking systems and eliminating bottle necks that free up capacity and enhance capability. She has a passion for simplifying complex systems and processes that result in enhanced efficiencies and enjoys working collaboratively with diverse teams.  Charneill also served as the transformation leader and staff partner during her time in corporate employment. She currently serves on the board of Mothers2Mothers NPC, an organisation that uses a unique mentor model to empower HIV positive mothers.
